LG Electronics has announced a major advancement in its air conditioning system production line. The company has implemented a new physical foam molding process that uses nitrogen gas to create bubbles in the material of the units\u2019 outer panels. This technique enables a reduction of up to 900 grams of plastic per unit manufactured<\/strong>In addition, it replaced traditional ABS plastic with polypropylene (PP), a lighter material with a lower carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

According to T\u00dcV Rheinland certification, each unit produced using this method emits 14.85 kg less CO\u2082 equivalent<\/strong>At an industrial scale, the impact is significant: around 270 tons of plastic are no longer used annually<\/strong>, enquanto a redu\u00e7\u00e3o total estimada de emiss\u00f5es supera 4,400 tons per year<\/strong>This volume is comparable to the carbon absorbed by a 30-year-old pine forest covering an area equivalent to more than 580 football fields.<\/p>\n

The technology has been in operation since June 2025 in commercial 4-way systems, and LG expects to gradually expand it to other residential and commercial models. This move is part of the company\u2019s commitment under its global ESG strategy, called \u201cBetter Life for All\u201d<\/strong>which sets the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 54,6% to 2030<\/strong>based on 2017 levels<\/p>\n
