IFBA – Salvador Campus partnered with air conditioning manufacturer Hitachi to strengthen student learning and environmental awareness about air conditioning. The collaboration includes donating equipment for the new “Air Conditioning Laboratory with Low Environmental Impact Fluids,” the first of its kind in Bahia, installed in the Academic Department of Mechanical Technology (DATM). The space already supports academic activities and will serve the community in the future.
Coordinated by Gabriel Gesteira, the technical course in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning aims to train students and promote best practices in handling refrigerants such as R-410A, R-32, and, in the future, R-290 (Propane), by analyzing performance and environmental impact. Initial results will be presented at Conbrava, in São Paulo. The laboratory also strengthens IFBA’s participation in the Brazilian HCFC Phase-Out Program (PBH), in partnership with the German agency GIZ, which has trained more than 2,000 technicians in refrigeration and air conditioning best practices since 2014.
